Coffee Beans Grinder

The world is becoming very “instant” isn’t it? Everything is available pre-cooked, pre-soaked, ready to eat and instant, and although we can buy pre-ground coffee, or even instant, there’s nothing quite like the anticipation associated with the high pitched sound of coffee beans grinding, the sound, the smell quickly followed by the taste – ah, delicious. Ok, so you can buy pre-ground coffee beans, but freshly ground coffee just tastes so much better than those pre-ground beans.

Coffee Beans Grinders are great, not only do you get that freshly ground taste, but you can also adjust the coarseness of the coffee. Different types of coffee and coffee machines work better with different coarseness of ground coffee beans, so this really is one thing which doesn’t need to be “instant” – DIY really is a much better option.

Some coffee bean grinders are pretty noisy with lots of chopping and whirring sounds going on, but some of the more modern ones are much quieter if you don’t like the sound.

  • Coarse ground coffee beans – are best for use in a cafetiere or percolator
  • Medium ground coffee beans – use this setting if you have a flat bottomed filter coffee machine
  • Fine coffee beans – are best for cone filter coffee machines
  • Extra fine coffee beans – go all the way for espresso machines

Coffee Beans Grinders do come in many different designs. The old fashioned ones (see piccy) make a great display for your kitchen shelf, and many of the  modern coffee bean grinders are very compact, neat and tidy with places to store the cable and everything. Manual ones make sure you get at least one bit of exercise every day, even if it’s only one arm. Coffee bean grinders do have other uses too, but please don’t let on because I’ll be in big trouble if my other half finds out, but you can use them to chop up nuts for sauces and baking, whizzing up breadcrumbs, dried fruits, peppercorns and spices, in fact, whatever you might put into a pestle and mortar, just stick it in the coffee grinder. You just have to be sure to clean it all up before anyone sees you. You won’t tell will you?
